Transcribe for the record.

Remote, independent-contractor roles for legal transcriptionists, scopists and proofreaders who care whether the page holds up when it is read back.

  • Flexible, remote work

Claim files when you have capacity. No minimum hours. Most files are due on US Eastern business days, so availability in those hours matters.

  • Legal-only workload

Depositions, court hearings, administrative hearings and evidentiary audio. No general dictation.

  • Paid per completed file

Clear rates, clear deadlines, prompt payment on delivery.

Roles

Legal transcriptionist
Produce the transcript from audio to the format order; full audio proof before you submit.
Scopist
Edit speech-recognition or steno drafts against the audio; build the speaker roster; verify names and terms.
Proofreader / reviewer
Second pass against the audio; redline in Track Changes; cover, index and certificate check.

The rate for each file is stated before you claim it. Rush files pay a premium.

How we hire

Apply below. If your experience fits, you will receive a short formatting and punctuation test and a timed 10-minute audio sample. We score accuracy, format compliance and research (whether you looked the names up). Successful applicants complete a structured orientation, then work supervised files with a full-audio review and a redline on every job until their error rate earns self-proofing status. Reviewers are promoted from that pool.

What you need

Microsoft Word; a foot pedal and good headphones; stable internet; an encrypted computer that only you use; a signed confidentiality agreement before your first file; availability on US Eastern business days. You may not use consumer AI tools or public transcription services on client audio, at any stage.

What good looks like

A full audio proof before you submit. (Indiscernible) with a timestamp, never a guess. Every name researched and the source noted. The format order followed to the line.
